Katraki Square

The square of Vasso Katraki, is one of the central and oldest squares in Glyfada, it is between Metaxa Street and Poseidonos Avenue and it occupies an area of 600 square meters. It was designed in 1922, when the first design of Glyfada was made and it was also the center of the City. Full of olive trees and eucalyptous trees, had the same expance like today with the only difference that crossed Kondili's route and was cut in two.

There were coffee bars arround, bakeries and shops while the inside was full in summer with tables .Under Mayor Savvas Lazaridis Kondili stops in Metaxas Square, it gets reformed and called Bizaniou Square. Square Katraki was named from the mayor  Theodore Dimarchias Spondilidi while it took the form it has today from mayor Giannis Theodoropoulos.

With the reshaping of space, designed by the architects: Aspasia Kouzoupi and Nella Golanda, Katraki Square, a project costing a total amount of 1.750.000, won the prize of Structures 2011 'The best project work of the years 2008-2010'.

Today it is the city's reference point. Almost consolidated with St. Constantine Square, is an oasis in the center of Glyfada, resting place, meeting point and a stop for public transportation.
